HDTV, what you need to know....

If you've been shopping for TV lately, you probably saw the HDTV logo on the newer model on every brand name.   HDTV stands for high definition television.   Without going into the details of what is HDTV, in short, HDTV image is clearer and better color reproduction than the old technology.    The TV industry is heading toward high definition material.   HDTV is backward compatible with the older technology.   In other words, the new stuff supposed to work with the old stuff.  What stuff we're talking about?  Here's an example.   It's the same that DVD player can playback CD but CD player cannot playback DVD.   Why?  Because DVD technology is newer than CD technology and thus DVD technology is backward compatible.

So, what's all the mumbo-jumbo about this old technology and new technology called HDTV?  Well, we are at the new era.  High definition video (HDV) just made its way into the market.    This is a very exciting time for small producer like us.  We love to stay on the edge of technology.   We make the technology available for our client who wants high definition DVD aka HD-DVD.   Here's the catch....the big catch.   Read the next paragraph carefully and if you still have question, contact us.

HD-DVD at the present time can only playback from a computer...a very powerful computer running at least 3.2 GHz with 2 GB of RAM.   No DVD player existed yet at the time of this writing -- January 2005.   So, why do make it available to our client?   Very simple.   We love technology and we love to stay on the edge of technology.   This is the reason why we're making HD-DVD an option but not as the normal package.  We know there are geeks out there who want the latest and greatest stuff like us.  :-)

So, what's the advantage of booking high definition package?   We can shoot, edit and produce HD-DVD.   Not just produce HD-DVD as the last step conversion process.   When we shoot in high definition, edit in high definition and then produce HD-DVD, the video looks cleaner/clearer on HDTV.

Is HD-DVD worth your money?   Only if you have a big screen HDTV, 40 inches or bigger or a projector.  If you owned the big screen HDTV, you will pat yourself on the back for getting HD-DVD.   If your HDTV is less than 40 inches, then, stick with the traditional stuff.   It saves you more money.
